Santander 2050

I did not set the project up, but I shaped most of it and kept correcting it until it was ready. The hard part was not the size but that it kept changing while we built it: what a mission was, what counted as an indicator and how they related were redefined several times, and the site had to absorb those changes without being rebuilt each time. I also moved the study’s heavy documents out of the site, so they now download from S3, and every mission has its own PDF sheet generated in the browser. Having built Biodiversidad en Cifras first taught me where a screen that tries to show everything breaks.

Visión Santander 2050 turns the department's biggest challenges into missions with targets you can actually follow over time. The public site tells that story and shows how it is progressing; behind it there is an admin platform the team uses to keep everything the site shows up to date, without needing a developer for every change. It is built with Next.js and a Drizzle data layer, and the real weight of the work was in the model holding all of that together.
